MULTI-MEDIA ARTIST

SALANT first exhibited photography in New York in 1998, followed by studies at the International Center of Photography. While photographing commercially, SALANT focused a Masters degree on installation art, crafting experiential spaces with sensitivity to resourcefulness, community and environment. SALANT created and contributed to art projects and installations engaging global and North American social issues, notably influenced by movements in American feminism and bold intimacy found in late 20th Century visual and performance art.

SALANT expose pour la première fois à New York en 1998, puis étudie au Centre international de photographie. Tout en effectuant un travail de commande, SALANT s’est concentrée sur un master de l’art de l’installation et de la création d’espaces expérientiels, avec une sensibilité à l’ingéniosité, la communauté et l’environnement. SALANT a créé et contribué à des projets d’art et des installations qui abordent les questions sociales mondiales et nord-américaines, notamment influencées par les mouvements féministes américains et l’intimité audacieuse que l’on retrouve dans les arts visuels et la performance de la fin du XXè siècle.

images & stories collected take shape in a large scale process collage, then join photographs on 5 suspended silks, and prose on 5 muslin scrolls. Birthed in a cave across from a chateau in Lavardin France, the Cave de la Resistance, l'antre traveled south to Arles, France, seasoned by the Camargue, processed somatically into gallery installation and a book.

This album cover suggests a necessary alternative to desperate acts of miitary violence. Bare arms of a young girl hold a piece of the original parchment of a widely known Czech poem about the last butterfly to visit a ghetto.

EVICTED:Memphis Community conversation on housing insecurity

Local engagement designed for the Greater Memphis Housing Justice Project and the Black Clergy Collaborative, in order to connect local experience to the touring immersive exhibition EVICTED (National Building Museum) based on the book by Matthew Desmond. Exhibition DEC 2022 - JAN 2023 at the Benjamin L Hooks Central Library - Memphis, Tennessee USA.

Process collages follow a consistently inconsistent physical methodology designed to reduce over-edit, over-thinking, expectations, compulsion, blockages, control, habit. The first series were beautiful messes cut to shareable shards.
This process developed over the years into a method of accessing the subconsious messages noticed in images that stick, and culminated in the process for project l’antre 2023-4 FRANCE.
